The Dead are rising and feasting on the living

April 30, 2010

Song of the Day:
The Mad Capsule Markets - Let it Rip

Part 3

Zombies have been a staple in Horror Cinema since George Romero’s
Night of the Living Dead in 1968.
N.O.T.L.D. set the standards and rules for all Zombie movies since.
Now, unlike Aliens and Vampires, I feel there is only one rule when it comes to Zombies
that the media has to follow in order to call it a Zombie Book, Movie, etc.

It’s really simple. If someone dies then comes back to life and wants
to eat brains, they are a Zombie.
If they don’t die, they are just an Infected Human.
That doesn’t mean they suck, it just means they aren’t a real Zombie.
I don’t care if the Zombies run or crawl.
I don’t care if a virus killed them or if it was space dust.
I only care if they are dead and that they want to eat you.

Some of my Favorites:

The Original Night of the Living Dead, 1968:
Classic which all other Zombie flicks should be measured against.

Lucio Fulci’s Zombie (Zombi 2), 1979:
A great Zombie movie with the gore amped up 1000 fold compared to N.O.T.L.D.

A great “Zombedy”. Not 100% sure that the Zombies are the
Living Dead, so unless you can prove otherwise, we’re gonna Lump this into the good
Zombie Category.

World War Z:
One of the best Zombie books I have ever read.
It is an oral history of the great Zombie War 5 years after it ended.
Agent X found this gem and I am so glad he did.

One of my least favorites:

28 Weeks Later
This movie is shit. The Original is soooo much better.
And the Zombies are not “True” Zombies.
This movie will make you sick to your stomach.
Not because of gore but because of the crappy shaky hand-held filming style.

Zombie kids are cute

Song of day:
Akira Yamaoka - Sickness Unto Foolish Death

Part 2:

OK, I am sick of seeing alien movies where aliens show up,
attack humanity, battle us to the brink of extinction but at the last minute
we discover something stupid to repel and defeat the would be alien invaders.
Sorry, but i call ... BULLSHIT!
If "Visitors" show up, mankind is pretty much fucked.
Think of humans as Native Americans and the aliens as Christopher Columbus.
~ ~ ~ ~

The remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still is such crap.
I doubt that a Mom and her step son could plead with an advanced alien race and get them to change
their minds about decimating mankind at the last possible second.

Independence Day.
A great summer blockbuster movie.
Shallow, lots of explosions but still entertaining.
If a species is advanced enough to blow up all the major cities of Earth in 20 minutes,
chances are we won’t be able to upload a virus into their computer systems.

I’m sorry but if aliens show up on Earth one day,
I really doubt that you could hide in your basement and fend them off.
If they can travel the stars, they can knock down an old cellar door.

Close Encounters of Third Kind.
Aliens like our music?
~ ~ ~ ~
Some other crap alien representations:
Cloverfield, The War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise, The Fourth Kind, Battlefield: Earth, The Forgotten.
~ ~ ~ ~
Some good alien stuff:

The Twilight Zone Episode "To Serve Man"
Aliens show up here...to eat us.
"To Serve Man - It’s a Cook-Book!"

Alien & Aliens:
Much more likely that in the future, we land on some strange world,
find an alien “insect” and get our ass devoured by it.

John Carpenter's The Thing:
Man finds some alien shipped that has been buried under the
Antarctic ice for thousands of years.
After getting exposed to some alien DNA,
everybody mutates into fucked up monsters and proceeds to kill one another.
~ ~ ~ ~
Bottom line, sure we all want Aliens to exist.
But you really don’t want them to show up.
I’m a just a cynical nerd ranting on a low tech website.
Check out what Stephen Hawking, one of the smartest guys on the planet, has to say on the subject:

Tomorrow, part 3:

Aliens, Zombies and Vampires....oh my

April 28, 2010

Song of the Day:
MC Chris - OMC

I'm reading a Vampire Book right now that is pissing me off.
Vampires don't eat tacos with goat's blood on them!
And Vampires don't go out in the sun thanks to sunscreen.
WTF ?!?!

I feel that Vampires have not been depicted properly in the media lately.
And it’s more than just Vampires.
Aliens and Zombies are being portrayed in the wrong light too.
So, we here at ihatepeacocks.com are going to make a series of declarations
in an effort to set the record straight.

Part 1

Vampires DO NOT go out in Sunlight.  Vampires DO NOT wear sunscreen.
Vampires DO NOT need to use guns, they use fangs.
Vampires DO NOT Sparkle.
Vampires consume Human Blood. Any Vampire that chooses to live off of animal blood only, is a pussy.
Vampires are DEAD meaning no beating heart, they do not breath, they don't get winded.
Vampires are immortal and things like HIV or bullets have no effect on them.
Vampires have super strength, super speed, pale skin and fangs.

The only things that can kill a vampire:
Stake/Spike thru the heart, chop their head off or the Sun.
That’s it.

Optional Vampire lore that is acceptable but kind of cheesy:
The Power of flight, the ability to turn into a bat or wolf,
no reflection in mirrors, can’t come in unless invited,
and being allergic to silver.
Anything else is too much.

Good Vampire representation:
True Blood - Let the Right One In - Bela Lugosi as Dracula -

Shitty Vampire representation:
The Twilight Saga - The Underworld Films - From Dusk till Dawn

Two of the Best Vampire Representations:
Anne Rice's "Interview with a Vampire"
and "The Vampire Lestat"

Tomorrow we will set the record straight on Aliens followed by Zombies.

Agent X sent this over.
This is what we call effective advertising.

Earth Day: Go Green with The Space Smurfs

April 22, 2010

Song of the Day:
Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A Changing

It's Earth Day.
In the spirit of "going green", Avatar was released on DVD today.
I find it funny that the highest grossing movie of all time is being released on DVD today.
You have to figure that it will become one of the highest selling DVDs ever.
DVDs are not biodegradable.
So if you think about it, all of those Avatar discs will be here celebrating Earth Day
long after mankind disappears off the face of the Earth.

So here is my tribute to people going green today and getting back to nature.
Happy Earth Day!

The New Doctor Who.
Doctor Who Season 5 kicked off on the BBC America Saturday Night.
What did you think?
I watched it and thought ......it wasn't too bad.
Doctor Who 11 has some big shoes to fill. But I think he can pull it off.
He may never be as good as David Tennant, but I think he'll turn out to be a good Doctor Who.
The upcoming episodes look great.
The Return of River Song, The Weeping Angels are back, and Daleks!

April 8, 2010
